Bespoke Accent and Voice Work for Actors
I have an MA in teaching and coaching vocal studies from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Working with your voice involves a combination of brain and body, so through my approach we’ll focus on posture, breath, the larynx and supporting structures. I’ll design a clear programme for our sessions, taking a layered approach to develop a bespoke accent that allows you to put your character into context, and build a deeper connection with the voice.

My goal is always to help you master an authentic accent, giving you the freedom to move around in your character, adding nuance and detail with confidence. I create a bespoke accent programme based on your goals, tailoring my approach and the tools I give you to suit your learning style. Rather than simply mimicking, you will embody the accent, increasing your skills and versatility as an actor, and helping you to deliver assured, convincing performances.

To avoid caricatures or superficial portrayals, we’ll take a full exploration of your chosen accent. It’s important to understand their locality and reality to inform the accent and create appropriate dialect. From there we’ll work through pronunciation, intonation, rhythm and speech patterns, using filming and feedback sessions for continuous improvement.

Whether you are acting, presenting, public speaking, working in gaming or voice-overs, if you feel the quality of your voice or your accent is affecting your communication or performance, I can help. Once we have established your goals, I will create a bespoke programme to help you express yourself with confidence and give your voice more clarity, weight and resonance.
Crucially, this is not about softening your accent. We can enhance the positive aspects of your voice and embrace the elements that make you sound distinctively you.

I work with clients online through Zoom or face to face at my private clinic in Cardiff, Wales. I also travel across the UK and internationally to work on set or with theatre companies.
